Covenant Membership Commitment

Those whom God has called to support the ministry of FBC Brookville do enter into fellowship with FBC Brookville confessing the following to be true:

I have repented of my sins and have put my faith in Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness. I have been born again as a result of his redeeming work on the cross (John 3:16-18; Romans 3: 23-26) and have been baptized to publicly demonstrate my commitment as a Jesus follower (Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21).

I have read and agree with the core beliefs of FBC Brookville expressed in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

I commit to submit and support and follow the church leadership as they follow God and will be diligent to preserve unity in the church and adhere to FBC Brookville’s position on primary theological issues and will not be divisive over secondary issues (Ephesians 4:1-3; Hebrews 13:7, 17 Romans 15:5-6).

I commit, as the Lord enables me, to be a cheerful and generous giver of all the resources that God has generously given to me (Proverbs 3:9-10; 1 Corinthians 8:1-24, 9:1-15; Galatians 6:2-10).

I commit to agree with God about my sin in definition, (Romans 3:23, 13:12-14; 1 Corinthians 6:9-20 1 John 5:17; James 4:17 1 John 2:6) in confession, (1 John 1:5-10) and repentance. (John 8:31-32; Romans 6:1-23, 8:1-18 Colossians 3:1-17 1 John 3:4-10).  If necessary I will seek additional help from my pastors and church family to gain victory over repetitive sin (James 5:16; Philippians 3:12-16).  Further, if I do not repent of sin I will submit myself to church discipline by the authorities of the church if the need ever arises (Mathew 18:15-18; Galatians 6:1-5; 1Timothy 5:20; Titus 3:10-11; Hebrews 12:5-11).

I commit to walk in faithfulness, obedience, to Jesus and grow in relationship with him through worship (1 Corinthians 10:31), prayer (Matthew 6:9-13), Bible reading (Psalms 119:105), participating in church community (Hebrews 10:25; Ephesians 4:1-32), and spiritual disciplines (Galatians 5:16-26; 2 Corinthians 10:5) so I may be more like Jesus in all that I do (Matthew 5:48 Hebrews 12:1-2).

I commit to support and serve the mission of FBC Brookville to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:18-20).
